Barb's high school years were interrupted when the war caused a shortage of men and she was needed to work on the farm. She returned to school, graduated, worked as a telephone switchboard operator and substitute teacher. From managing fashion floors in Edmonton and Kamloops Barb moved to Alexis Creek where she and Ernie became owners of a service station and tow truck business (B & E Service). In her spare time she cooked for the forestry suppression crews who were fighting fires during the summer. She loved her adventures; flying to fires, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling in the Cariboo. A well deserved retirement brought Barb to Logan Lake. Barb and Ernie spearheaded Ducks Unlimited banquets in Logan Lake. Barb, with Ernie's help, also volunteered by cooking meals and preparing lunches for the Velocity Challenge at Sun Peaks beginning in 1990. They continued to feed the speed skiers and volunteers for a number of years. After Ernie died, Barb moved back to Kamloops in 1998.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour Street, on Saturday, October 30th at 2:00 p.m. Her nephew Barrie Reeder will officiate.

The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care and support Mom received. Thank you to Dr. Brink and staff, the paramedics, staff at Royal Inland Hospital as well as the staff at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home for their wonderful compassion.
