Wanda Danuta Tacreiter
Born In: Poland
Passed in: Halifax/Ingonish, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: November 13th, 2010
As the sun rose on Nov. 13, 2010, Wanda’s sun set, but her star will shine brightly in our hearts forever. With daughters Helga, Shiloh, NJ and Kersti (Jamie Jordan), Halifax/Ingonish, at her side, Wanda left us with a lifetime of memories, adventures and books to read, cherish and enjoy.  Brother, Jerzy Kulig, Gdynia, Poland, shared his older sister’s love of books.
In her final years, Wanda found great joy in grandsons Quinn & Mikka Jordan and throughout her life in her colleagues and students.
A chemist by profession (MSc Jagiellonian University) and humanist at heart, Wanda overcame many struggles in her journey which began in Kraków, Poland and ended in Halifax. She was a proud Canadian committed to her Polish heritage and passed this love and passion on to daughter Kersti. Working in labs and classrooms ranging from the Children’s Hospital, Fisheries & Oceans Canada, Nova Scotia Institute of Technology and the National Research Council, Wanda finished her career at Dalhousie University, upon which she undertook studies in languages and literature. As owner of the Driftwood Lodge, Ingonish, since 1973 with late mother Zuzanna (Susan) Kulig and daughter, Kersti, she welcomed her guests with a smile and delighted in their stories. Throughout her life, Wanda was passionate about music, theatre, dance, art, literature, education, travel, science and humour and collected a diverse library of books, which were her greatest pride and joy after her family.
We will miss you Mummy, Baba! Sleep well and sweet dreams.
