Donald Bellows
Donald Ralph Bellows, October 05, 1931 - November 13, 2010. Donald's family would like to announce his sudden passing, after a brief stay at the Kyle Health Centre, on Nov. 13, 2010. Don was predeceased by his parents: Walter (1959) and Mable (1992); his wife Elaine in 2005. He is survived by his 2 children: Gerry (Theresa) and their 3 children: Brett, Jaime and Reilly; Wendy (Gordon) McBean and their 4 children: Dwight, Lee (Lynn), Jackie, and Cody; also 2 great grandchildren: Paige and Wyatt McBean; one sister: Mildred (Les) Funk and their children, Marina, Shelley, Calvin and Colleen and families. one brother Edward (Betty) Bellows and their children, Curtis and Trina and families. There are many more extended family members, especially cousins and in-laws, that should be mentioned, but they are just too numerous. Don was born in Lucky Lake on October 5, 1931, to Walter and Mabel (Bienkiron) Bellows. He was the eldest of 3 children living and going to school in the Beechy area. He stayed and worked on the family farm and on June 25, 1956 he married Elaine Sarkilahti, from Dinsmore. The continued living on the farm, and had 2 children: Gerry, born on April 19, 1959 and Wendy, born on Oct. 23, 1962. In November, 1966 Don and Elaine moved to Kyle, where Don went to work at the Kyle Welding and Machine Shop. He also attended S.T.I. in Moose Jaw and soon became a Welder by Trade. Over the years Don worked at L & L Service (1970); owned and operated Mammoth Service (1980-1985), and most recently in 1986 he started a small engine repair and yard maintenance business from home, which he continued to do until he physically just couldn't anymore. He enjoyed watching most sports on T.V., and played a little golf, but he really loved fishing. When he was younger he played ball in Beechy and in Kyle. He was often seen on the field as the umpire. To those who understood it, his "unique sense of humour" and that grin, surely brought a smile to many faces over the years, and hopefully will continue to do so when you think of him in the future. There is no way to express our appreciation to all the Kyle Health Centre and Homecare Staff, so we must just say "thank-you". Donations to the Health Centre would be greatfully accepted, in Don's memory, or to a charity of the donor's choice. There will be no formal service at Don's request, but a Gathering of Family and Friends to reminisce will take place in Beechy on Saturday, November 27th from 1:00 until 4:00 P.M. at the Community Hall. Everyone welcome, and if you want to wear your Blue Jeans, please do. Warren's Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK. entrusted with the arrangements.
