HAWRYLUK - Paul. On the evening of June 28, 2009 we said our last good-bye to Paul, our dad and gigo. We were blessed to have spent our last Father’s Day with dad the previous Sunday. Paul was born on July 27, 1917 on the family homestead in the Krydor District. The family later moved closer to Saskatoon and later settled in the Red Deer Hill/Clouston District. Paul married Olga Kziondzyna on July 20, 1947 in the Laniwci Catholic Church. Paul and Olga worked very hard on the farm and eventually built a home in Prince Albert in 1975. After their move, Dad was everyone’s chauffer for many years, driving his grandchildren to hockey games, ball games and Ukrainian dancing practice and where ever they needed or wanted to go. He was very involved in the lives of his grandchildren and was always interested in their endeavors and how he could help them out! He never said that he could not do something – he just made sure that he could! His life revolved around his family and farming. He kept farming as long as his health permitted and he was well into his 80’s when he had to give up his life long passion although always maintained an interest in the land. In 2004, he developed back problems and eventually became a resident of the Herb Bassett Home for a few months before moving to Mont St. Joseph Home. He grew to love his care givers as his own family and was very happy there. Paul loved having people around and became a great conversationalist with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his special outings with his family, driving his motorized scooter, his many road trips from the Home with Shannon and going to the farm. His last “road trip†was to his great granddaughter’s baptism in May. Paul loved watching movies, the news, hockey games and how the Riders were doing. He also enjoyed rousing games of Canasta and Kaiser with his family! Left to cherish beautiful memories of Paul are his children: Irwin (Ethel), Diane (Wally) Bazowski, Bonnie, Sonya (Terry) Leeb, and Carol (John) Gross; grandchildren, Desmond (Jill), Dustin (Annette Perrault), Tim (Jamie), Lisa (Dean) Nahachewsky, Larisa (Manny Reis), Justin (Ashlee Single), Ashley and Jordan (Leslie MacLean); great grandchildren, Dominic and Chloe; brother, William (Helen); sister, Grace LeGatt; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Paul joins in eternal peace: his wife, Olga; parents, Peter and Anastasia Hawryluk; sisters, Anne Kulak and Katie Holuk; brothers, Jack and Stephen in infancy; brothers-in-law, Walter Kulak, Joe Holuk and Frank LeGatt; his nephew Loyce Hawryluk; in-laws, John and Judwiga Kziondzyna. The family would like to thank the staff at the Mont St. Joseph Home for their kind and loving care for Paul over the past years. In Prince Albert, SK at St. Georges Ukrainian Catholic Church 752-14th Street West a Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, July 2 at 7:30 pm and the Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, July 3 at 10:00 am.
