March 2nd, 1922 - November 19th, 2010

Lilian Smith, known to her friends as Lil, was the only child of Alex Smith and Elizabeth (nee Jones), born March 2, 1922, in Kamloops, BC.

She attended Anderson Creek School and St Anne's Academy before joining the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) where she served as a stenographer from 1943 to 1946. After she was discharged, Lil returned to Kamloops and was employed by the Departments of Agriculture and Forestry. In those early working years, Lil played the piano and would take her accordion along to the office parties. Lil liked to travel to warmer climates and especially loved her time in Tahiti and Hawaii. In the early 1960's she worked and lived in Honolulu doing office work at an employment agency. After moving to Vancouver, Lil worked at the Vancouver General Hospital as the parking lot attendant. She enjoyed more travels in her retirement. Lil faithfully kept in touch with her many friends in Kamloops and the Interior, and would make a special trek from Vancouver to visit everyone, usually in the spring. Lil enjoyed a hearty laugh whenever she told stories of her days on the farm. She had a passion for animals and held a special place in her heart for her dog Skippy and her horse. Over the years, Lil took care of many young children and their pets. She was affectionately included as "part of the family" by many of those who knew her.

By request, there will be no service.
