Sarah 'Sadie' (Lamie) MacNeil

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Sadie MacNeil, on Dec. 8, 2010, at Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Mary Ellen (MacNeil) Lamie. She was a member of St. Pius X parish, Sydney Mines. Sadie loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings.
Sadie is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Russell. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Thomas (Jessie), Donald (Barbara) and Russell (Laurie) and her daughters, Mary Murphy and Bernadette (Robert) Lovell. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Bernadette (Charlie) Johnston, John Murphy, Jillian and Kayla-Beth MacNeil, Jeff and Amy MacNeil, Jeremy and Amber Lovell, Erin and Kristin MacNeil and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Nicolas Johnston.
She was predeceased by brothers, Thomas (Buddy), Leo, John, Hugh (in infancy) and sisters, Marie and Dodie (Sr. Josephine).
Visitation will take place at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines, on Friday, December 10, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass celebrating her life will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Ajit Kerketta officiating. A reception will be held in the parish hall following the service.
