It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Elizabeth MacDonald, on Dec. 25, 2010, in the Cove Guest Home. Elizabeth was born in Sydney to the late John and Mary 'Molly' (MacIsaac) MacVicar.
She was the last surviving member of her family.
She spent most of her married life on Lorne Street, where she had a large circle of friends. Elizabeth worked for many years as an office clerk with the Metropolitan Store on Charlotte Street in Sydney. She was a member of St. Theresa's Church, the St. Theresa's Ladies Auxiliary and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12 Ladies Auxiliary.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Norma (Rick) Reed; sons, Jack (Linda) and Kenneth. She also leaves behind the grandchildren she adored, Deanna (Dave), Suzanne and Steven MacDonald, Kelsey Walsh (Joe); great-grandson, Rory MacDonald.
Besides her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Norman and brothers, John Dan and James MacVicar.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Cove Guest Home, whose kindness and compassion were a great source of comfort. A special thank you to friend of the family, Fr. Michael Rankin, who comforted Elizabeth and family in her last hours.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29 in T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel .A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Theresa's Church 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 30 with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Burial will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Cove Guest Home or the Alzheimer's Society.
