John Stanley Wotherspoon, age 71, of Success, Sk passed away December 22, 2010 at Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, Sk. The Funeral Service was held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 28, 2010 from Trailview Alliance Church with Pastor John Regier officiating. A solo piano selection was presents by a granddaughter Kaitlyn Brumwell. Solos where also performed by Pat Estabrooks. Life Tribute and Eulogy were presented by Sherry Young and Marvin Auseth. The ushers were Gord Gray, David Kurney, Darcy Wall and Ray Lloyd. Pallbearers were Leonard Dokken, Glen Reimer, Jack Estabrooks, David Wotherspoon, Darrel Wotherspoon and Ron Smid. The Interment Service took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery. John is survived by his wife Gail Wotherspoon; daughters; Sherry Young and children Tim (Jazime) Young and Desmond; Lisa (Dallas) and her children Sharlyn (Cody), Jeremy, Kaitlyn Brumwell; son Brian (Dolores) Wotherspoon and their children, Melissa, Adam (Melinda), Erik (Jen), Kenton; son-in-law James Brumwell; six great grandchildren; brothers David (Eleanor) Wotherspoon and family; Donald (Dolores) Wotherspoon and family; Leslie (Barbara) Wotherspoon and family; Robbie Wotherspoon and family; sister-in-law Linda (Terry) McClain, numerous nieces and nephews He was predeceased by his daughter Sandra Ann; parents David and Catherine; nephew Timothy Wotherspoon; great nephew Dustin Lemire; mother-in-law Ann McClain and brother-in-law Buddy. John was born on May 2, 1939 in Swift Current. He attended school at the Flats School and in Swift Current. He married Gail Annette McClain on June 17, 1960. John worked for various farmers, pipeline, service and drilling rigs. He also worked for Pioneer Elevators before becoming a full time farmer and owned & operated his J.D. Trucking business. In his spare time, John was as avid curler and enjoyed bonspiels. He also played smear and entered and won several tournaments, even after his stroke in 1999. He loved music and often entertained us with his singing and playing of the accordion, mouth organ and guitar. Family was always important to John and he enjoyed every get together, especially with his grandchildren. He was a very serious farmer, especially when it came to weeds and rock picking, leaving no pebbles unturned on all his land and sometime the neighbors. When work was done you would often find John socializing and even enjoying a few beers with his friends. Sundays however where reserved for homemade soup at his mothers. John will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends. In his memory, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 2360-2nd Ave. Regina, SK.
