Crossman, Edward Craig - It is with sadness the family announce the passing of Edward Crossman of Hampton, devoted husband of Jacqueline (Jones) Crossman, of 59 years which occurred December 30, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in Chipman on March 8, 1925, son of the late George and Catherine (Whelly) Crossman. Ed was a life long Anglican and former member of the vestry and men's club. A veteran of WWII he served overseas in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Ed was a graduate of the first class of the Maritime Forest Ranger School in 1947. He was employed with the provincial government for 40 years. Ed was a 60 year member of Hampton Br. #28 Royal Canadian Legion and served as President, Secretary and Treasurer for several years and was a recipient of the Certificate of Merit and Honorary Secretary pin. He was a former Luxor Shriner and Past Master and Secretary of The Corinthian Lodge #13, F. & A.M. Ed received his 50 year pin in 2003. He served as coach of Minor Hockey at the old rink behind the "Diner" for some time. He served Meals on Wheels for a number of years and was a member of Hampton Seniors Resource Centre. Ed enjoyed being with his grand children whom he was so proud attending their sporting events where he could always be found. Besides his wife "Jackie", he is survived by two daughters, Sharon Mott (Gary) of Saint John, Gail Lynch (Ron) of Fredericton; one son, Gary Crossman (Marcia) of Hampton; one sister, Mary Sullivan (Donald) of Moncton; one brother, Malcolm Crossman (Vivian) of Peterborough, ON; four grandchildren, Katie Crossman, Moncton, Patrick and Gregory Crossman, Hampton and Jamie Lynch, Whistler, BC; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by five brothers, George, Arthur, Roscoe, Joseph and James.
Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton with visitation Sunday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. The funeral will be held Monday, 11:00am, at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Hampton, with Rev. Leo Martin officiating. A reception will be held at the Hampton Seniors Resource Centre immediately following the service. Interment will take place in Hampton Rural Cemetery at a later date. Memorials Canadian Cancer Society, NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. A Masonic tribute will be held Sunday at 4:00pm and a Legion tribute at 6:30pm at the funeral home. www.reidsfh.com
