It is with great sadness, that we announce the sudden passing of Marty Nicholson, 21, on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, in Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, Aug. 10, 1989, and a longtime resident of Dominion, he was the son of Greg Nicholson and Evelyn O'Donnell.
Marty was always full of energy and life; he had his own sense of style and was an avid Leafs fan. He could always be seen wearing a big smile and was known to have a sweet tooth for chocolate.
Marty is survived by a special stepfather, Patrick O'Donnell, New Waterford; brothers, Matthew Nicholson, John Janssens (Melanie), Elvis Janssens (Kelly) and Oscar Janssens. Marty is survived by a special father, Allan MacLean; as well as a sister, who was like a mother to him, Francine Janssens (Sean Carthcart); special brothers and sisters, Kara, Alyssa, Tyler, Bryson MacLean; and his girlfriend, Kim Clements and her children, Dylan, Coady and Samantha. Also left to mourn his passing are several close friends, nieces, nephews and his grandfather, John Janssens.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Ray Huntley is Thursday, 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mt. Carmel Avenue, New Waterford, followed by interment in St. Agnes Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy for Marty, memorial donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one's own choice.
