1950 - 2011 - Jean-Yves Plourde, 60, of Grand-Barachois and formerly of Bas Cap-Pelé, NB, passed away on Sunday, January 9th, 2011 at his residence. Born in Neguac, NB, he was the son of the late Raphael and the late Hélène (née: Savoie) Plourde. Dr. Plourde was devoted to his chosen profession of medicine; of note over the years, he was instrumental in the creation and development of the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital. He had a kind and gentle way with everyone he met. Jean-Yves enjoyed travelling and had a strong attraction to the water. He is survived by three sisters: Nellie (Normand) Savoie, Viola (Léo Paul) Savoie and Jacqueline (Donnie) Harding, all three of Neguac; three brothers: Antoine (late Pat) of Alexandria, ON, Ernest (Marcella) of Moncton and Normand (Pat) of Pickering, ON; one brother-in-law, Georges Caissie of Neguac as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. He will also be missed by Cora and by his dog, Beavis. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Esther in 2005.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Friday from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home Chapel, on Saturday, January 15th, 2011 at 10: 30 am. Interment in St.-Bernard Parish Cemetery, Neguac, NB.
