MARVIN ARNOLD

Passed on: January 16th, 2011

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of their Dad and Grandpa, Marvin Arnold, on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the age of 68. Marvin was born on February 27, 1942, the youngest of eleven children, to Carl and Lydia Arnold. He attended Kelstern School, not always arriving on time of course, depending on the number of rest breaks his Shetland pony needed. In his late teens he moved to Moose Jaw and was employed at the Sask. Wheat Pool Livestock Division, then returning to Shamrock to work for Rex Turner in his garage. On June 14, 1963 he married Margaret Schoenroth and raised four daughters while living and working in the Shamrock District. In 1979 the family moved to their farm four miles north of Shamrock. He followed his father's footsteps, becoming a Bonded Livestock Dealer as well as raising Quarter Horses. During these years he made many long time friends and acquaintances. In 2003 Marvin semi-retired and moved to Moose Jaw where he continued to work in the livestock industry on a smaller scale. Marvin would never pass up the opportunity to travel to a horse sale or attend a Moose Jaw Warriors hockey game. Marvin had many other interests which included being a Lifetime Lions Member, playing baseball well into his 40's, an avid curler, and spent many hours playing smear with family and friends. Dad instilled many good qualities into the lives of his daughters and grandchildren, which we will carry with us forever. Dad was not one to show a lot of affection or emotion, but we all know deep down that he loved us all dearly and was very proud of each one of us. We miss you Dad and Grandpa. You will always be in our hearts. We love you. Marvin leaves to treasure his memory his four daughters and their families; Shelly; Rhonda (Barry) Dylan, Cody, Kyle and Cole; Teresa (Grant) Twyla (great-grandson Jayden), Jake and Brayton; Lisa (Kim) Codey, Jenna and Tyler; brothers Fred (Blanche), Albert (Helen) and Bob; sisters Lil (Warren) and Sylvia (Dave); sister-in-law Julie; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Carl and Lydia Arnold, brothers Cliff, Gilbert, Richard and Otto; sister Frieda; great-granddaughter Adison; sisters-in-law Simone, Vicky, Frances, Therese, Ruby and Jackie; brother-in-law Wilfred; and nephew Brian. A Celebration of Marvin's life will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 11:00 am. Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorialization will take place at the Shamrock Cemetery at a later date. In memory of Marvin Arnold donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. In living memory of Marvin, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
