Braden Davis Gin was born April 4, 1995 in Calgary, AB and passed away July 30, 2009 after a brief but courageous battle with leukemia at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. He will be sadly missed by his parents David and Jodie Gin, brother Garrett, and grandparents Sueloge Gin, Gordon and Frances Schwartz, all of Herbert, SK; also by his Uncle Gordon and Aunt Kathy Gin of Fort Collins, Colorado; his Uncle Rory Gin of Regina, SK; his aunts, Suelaine Gin of Victoria, BC and Glenda Schwartz of Calgary, AB; as well his great grandmother Rose Thomson of Herbert, SK and cousins Gary Gin of Calgary, AB and Danny Gin of High Level, AB. He is predeceased by his grandmother, Elaine Gin. Braden was the sunshine of our lives. His quick smile, easy laugh and affectionate nature made him a pleasure to be around. He valued his school friendships and time with family was extremely important. He was at times quite mischievous, determined and quick-witted, but also gentle and shy. He had an adventurous spirit and liked to try new things without fear of consequences or hesitation. Braden was creative and imaginative like his mother and outdoorsy like his father. He idolized his big brother Garrett. He loved animals, namely his dogs Eddie and Chuck, and cats Saber and Willow. Braden loved fishing and hunting, especially with his Dad or Uncle Gordon and Grandpa Gin. His favourite fishing spot was Yellow Dog Lodge near Yellowknife. He also took pleasure in spending time with his dad and grandpa at the farm. His competitive nature drove him to be the best he could be. He had a keen interest in long distance running and hockey. He liked snorkeling and was looking forward to learning how to scuba dive, particularly in Australia with his friend Andy Hein. During Braden’s short life he showed compassion and caring for others. He was willing to lend a hand whenever there was the need. He was a respectful and honest individual. He was a faithful friend and a son that made his parents proud. His outgoing nature was infectious and his quick smile along with his vibrant blue eyes could brighten anyone’s day. Braden will be fondly remembered for his humorous antics and his ability to live life to the fullest. He was eager to experience all that life had to offer. He was youthful in his heart and body, a child with dreams. He loved to play using his imagination for unlimited amounts of time. There was an innocence about Braden that made him easy to love. His involvement with the Herbert Youth Group encouraged his spiritual character, guaranteeing a special spot in his heart for Jesus. Braden was the type of boy that displayed his emotions with a grin or an expression. He was developing lasting confidence and maturity during his teen years, but was not in a hurry to grow up too fast. Braden was optimistic and a positive thinker, making him a person that saw the goodness in others. Braden was by all standards a gifted young man with a heart of gold. Braden enriched the lives of all those who knew him. With his passing his family and friends will be forever changed. Cherishing all the memories from Braden’s short life, will aid the family in mourning this remarkable soul. He will be missed dearly. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 11:00 am from the Herbert School Gym, Herbert, SK with Pastor Donovan Epp officiating. Special Music was brought by the Herbert Youth Group. The Eulogy of Braden was read by Clint Hartog. Andy Hein and Alden Seib shared personal tributes a PowerPoint tribute was also shown. The ushers were Dallas Braun, Lonnie Ens, Brent Wiebe, and Darwin Heffley. The Private Family Interment Service will take place at a later date. In memory of Braden Gin, donations made to the Ronald McDonald House, Canadian Cancer Society, Herbert Youth Group, and the Herbert Health Care Auxillary would be appreciated by the family.
