PELLETIER - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Orville Joseph of Swift Current on Friday, November 6, 2009 in the Cypress Regional Hospital at the age of 71 years. Orville was born May 13, 1938 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He attended school at Lac Pelletier, Swift Current and Blumenort Schools. Orville married Marie-Lea Gobeil on July 8, 1972 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Orville farmed the family farmstead until July of 2002 when he and Lea moved to Swift Current. There he worked at Peavy Mart until his retirement 3 years later. He served as a councilor of RM #107 Lac Pelletier from 1987-1992, as well as St. Anne's Parish councilor in Lac Pelletier in the 80's. He enjoyed gardening, yardwork, watching television, listening to the radio, going for coffee with friends and enjoying time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Prayer service was held Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 7:00 PM from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home with Velma Wilson officiating. The Funeral Mass was held Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM from the Christ The Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Sathiadas Antony officiating. Music for the service was provided by Yolande Gorrill and the soloist was Peggy Marshall. Eulogists and readers included Colette Pelletier, Jo-Anne Therrien, Dolly Hampton and Lea Perron. Ushers were Lionel Gobeil and Dallas McFadden. Active pallbearers were Angela Pelletier, Donald Fortin, Cornie Martens, John Gobeil, Alison Wood and Dominic Fortin. Honorary pallbearers included Walter and Cecile Blanke, Roy and Anne Sakata, John Banman, John and Lavane Benn, all of which were his daily coffee friends. Interment service followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Orville was survived by his loving wife Lea; daughter Colette Pelletier (Thomas Robinson) and grandson Zachary Pelletier-Becker; son Timothy Pelletier (Jeanine) and granddaughters Kelsey and Nicole Pelletier; daughter Monique Pelletier (Curtis Brock) and grandson Braden Brock; brothers Armond (Donna) and Ralph Pelletier; brothers-in-law Andrew Fettig, Moise Gobeil (Mary Gold), Philip Gobeil, and Henry Gobeil (Louise); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Orville was predeceased by his parents Alphonse and Lena (nee: Paul) Pelletier, sister Yvonne Fettig, father-in-law and mother-in-law Joseph and Emma Gobeil, sisters-in-law Joyce Pelletier, Irene Plante and Marie Elias, brothers-in-law Gerard and Jean-Baptiste, many uncles, aunts and many treasured relatives and friends. Memorial donations may be made in Orville's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Christ The Redeemer Catholic Church Building Fund. Heartfelt thanks are extended to Dr. Terrance Gordon for his many years of dedication, compassion and excellent care. Sincere thank you to the Home Care staff and the Nursing staff of the Cypress Regional Hospital for all the kindness and care received. Also a special thank you to surgeon Dr. Carter at Regina General Hospital and thank you to everyone for all their kind prayers and visits.
