RONALD CECIL WELLS, P. Geo., FGAC MAY 19, 1953 - FEBRUARY 10, 2007 Supported by his family and friends, Ron died peacefully at home ending a courageous two year battle with cancer. Ron will be forever missed by his wife Karin Gerke, their loving children Stuart, Eleanor, Graham, Stephanie and her partner Daniel Hoefer. His mother Elfie, sister Evelyn, beloved Auntie Wilma, as well as relatives in England and Austria mourn his loss. Ron was predeceased by his father Cecil in 1992. He was a loyal son-in-law to Gertrud Gerke, and brother-in-law to Gerhard and Colleen Gerke, Doris and Don Johnson of Nanaimo. Jarrett and Kyle Gerke, Malcolm, Frederick and Kirsten Johnson can no longer joke around with their funny Uncle Ron. Ron was born in Lymington, England. After completing his Bachelor of Science with honours, he came to Canada to further his geoscientific studies. Ron and Karin established Kamloops Geological Services Ltd in 1991. He was a respected geologist and mentor whose passion and enthusiasm for mineral exploration played a central role in his life. As president of the Kamloops Exploration Group for the last 12 years, he ceaselessly pursued his goal of promoting interest in geology in the community and throughout the province. Ron's kindness, sense of humour, and positive outlook gained him many friends throughout the world. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who helped Ron in his valiant fight. They are deeply grateful to Drs. Stewart, Avenissian, Chevalier and especially Dr. Harold Stefanyk.
