SULLIVAN Elizabeth Ann Sullivan, nee Carmichael, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2007. She died at home surrounded by her family, the people and the things that she loved. Elizabeth was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and was a graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University and Dalhousie University. She was an Elementary School teacher in Yellowknife Northwest Territories and Halifax before leaving teaching to raise her family. Elizabeth is survived by her beloved husband Terry, her children Cameron (High Level, Alberta), Grace (Stony Plains, Alberta), Claire (Calgary, Alberta) and Sean (Kamloops). She is also survived by two brothers Douglas Carmichael (Jeanne d'Arc) of Comox, British Columbia, David Carmichael (Sharon) of Moncton, New Brunswick, and two sisters Deborah Patterson (Andrew) of Gaspe, Quebec and Marian Hingston (John) of Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is also survived and will be missed by many friends, in-laws, nieces and nephews in whose lives she was a positive influence and an important presence. She was predeceased by her parents Leo Gerald Carmichael and Margaret Carmichael (Underwood) of Halifax and a sister Joan Fanning (William) of St. John's, Newfoundland. Elizabeth is remembered for her generosity and caring for others. She was a benefactor of many charities and a volunteer at the Kamloops Food Bank, the Royal Inland Hospital Afternoon Auxiliary, the Royal Inland Hospital Cancer Clinic, Local Blood Donor Clinics, and the One on One Reading Program at South Sahali Elementary School. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the R.C.I.A. Program and a member of the Catholic Women's League. She loved to sing and loved the outdoors. She was a past member of the Sacred Heart Church Choir and a member of the Kamloops Choristers and the Kamloops Outdoor Club. Elizabeth loved her family, her music, her books and her garden. Thank you to Dr. Malliah, Dr. Swenerton (Vancouver), Dr. Krause, staff, nurses and volunteers at the Kamloops Cancer Clinic, Dr. Kim, Dr. Holloway, staff, nurses and volunteers at the Cancer Centre of the Southern Interior in Kelowna, staff at the Rotary Lodge in Kelowna, volunteer drivers of the Free Masons Cancer Van, staff at Royal Inland Hospital who cared for Elizabeth after her illness was initially diagnosed last year and those who cared for her more recently during her hospital stay and through home support as well as the many friends, family members and those presently or formerly associated with the Kamloops/Thompson School District who supported Elizabeth and her family throughout her struggle. A very special thank you to Dr. James Mabee for his skill as a physician, his caring, his support for Elizabeth and her family throughout her illness and his wonderful manner which eased her final weeks. Also to Jeannine and the Community Care Nurses, the Home Aid Workers, the Kamloops Hospice Association and Ms. Carol Dreger, the Respiratory Technologists and our wonderful neighbors whose assistance and many kind acts allowed us to keep Elizabeth at home. Also, a special thank you to Rt. Rev. Gerry Desmond, Rev. Derrick Cameron, Rev. Tony Akerman and Mrs. Theresa Lidster who provided for Elizabeth's spiritual needs throughout her illness. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Monsignor Jerry Desmond at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2007. A reception will follow the mass at Sacred Heart Church Hall (lower level).
