I. LORRAINE CALHOUN 1926 ~ 2007 Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, I. Lorraine Calhoun (nee Orton) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at RIH on November 20, 2007. Lorraine is survived by her husband Chuck Calhoun Sr., her children Allison (Cees) in't Veld and Chuck (Kate) Calhoun Jr., her grandchildren Fraser, Spencer and Megan Calhoun, Mike (Lara), Chris (Katie) and Andrew Rosenberger; She is also survived by her sisters Isobel McChesney, Ruth Koster, Irene (Bob) Friberg and her brothers William (Bev) Orton, Edwin (Iris) Orton and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Lucinda and Frederick Orton, sister Louise Cavani, and brothers, Keith and Albert Orton. Lorraine was born December 15, 1926 in Davidson, Saskatchewan. She came to BC as a young girl, growing up on the family farm on Vancouver Island. She graduated from Normal School in Victoria, going on to teach school in small communities on the north coast of British Columbia. While teaching in Butedale, Lorraine met her future husband, Chuck Calhoun. She gave birth to both of her children in Nanaimo, BC, later moving to Penticton, and Kamloops, where she taught elementary school for many years. Future moves took her to Vancouver, Nanoose Bay, Squamish, and then returning to enjoy a retirement in Kamloops and at the family cabin on East Barriere Lake. Lorraine cooked many fabulous meals and made everyone welcome in her home. A legendary gardener, she was happiest with her hands in the dirt. The family would like to thank the tremendous efforts of the firemen, paramedics, and emergency room staff, as well as her general practitioner, Dr. Schumacher. The Funeral Service will take place at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, November 26, 2007 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Len DenBraber officiating.
