KOCH - Henry Koch of Swift Current, SK, formerly of Simmie, SK age 83 years, passed away at the Herbert & District Integrated Health Facility on Thursday, December 24, 2009. A Prayer Service was held on Friday, January 1, 2010 at 7:00 PM from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass was held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Swift Current, SK at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 2, 2010. The pianist was Marlene Dolter accompanied by the Christ The Redeemer Choir. Ushers were Richard St. Jacques and Connelly Sherwick. The pallbearers were Justin Sherwick, Troy Nicolson, Trevor Sherwick, Dominique Bolton, Anthony Bolton and Bradley Sherwick. The readers were Marilyn Bolton, Pat McGuire, Jacinta Classen The interment service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current. Henry was born in the Simmie district on August 25, 1926 and lived on the Koch farm in the Simmie district. He attended school across the road at Stone Farm School. He farmed in the Simmie district all of his life. In his younger years Henry took pleasure in curling and dancing. Henry was an avid fisherman and hunter. He and Germaine spent many wonderful times and memorable moments fishing and hunting. He loved to visit with family and friends and play cards. He enjoyed treating his company to ice cream and ginger ale - a special treat to him. Henry took pride in his vehicles and always kept them spotless, even on a dusty gravel road. In later years he and Germaine enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their cabin at Lac Pelletier. Henry will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his special companion Germaine Sherwick and her family: Marsha (Ron) Nicholson, Shirley and the late Marvin Sherwick, Janet (Garry) Krause, Donna (Ron) Backstrom, Erroll (Lorraine) Sherwick, Gisele (Dean) Classen as well as 23 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; his sister-in-law Helen Koch, nieces Marilyn (Kent) Bolton, Barbara Ann (Pat) McGuire, great nephews and nieces Luke, Johan (Lindsay), Anthony, Dominique and Kathleen Bolton, Delina, Katrina and Theodore McGuire, great great nephew Everett Bolton. He was predeceased by his parents Mike and Katherine Koch and brother Theadore (Ted) Koch, Marvin Sherwick and grandson Jason Sherwick. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Christ the Redeemer Parish Building Fund would be greatly appreciated by the family. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
