FIAL On Thursday, July 17, 2008 Mr. John Fial passed away peacefully at the Kamloops Hospice Home at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his loving wife Mary and his three daughters Vandy (John) Noble of Beaverton, Oregon, Rhonda Dunn of Duncan, BC and Lauren (Ken) Kembel of Kamloops; his four grandchildren Tina, Leith, Lindsay and Leora and one great grandchild Jacob Heerwagon. Also left to cherish his memory are his two sisters Mildred Backosti of Kelowna and Glaydce Wilcosh of Vancouver. John was predeceased by his brothers Tony, Frank, Joe and Albert and his sisters Helen, Margaret, Beanie, Joan and Julia. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the three special gals our young neighbours Tana Ray, Baily and Lane. John was born in St. Andrews, Manitoba to Michael and Martha Fial, the youngest of a family of thirteen. He spent the last 37 years in Kamloops. Although a mason by trade, he was accomplished at almost anything else he set his mind to, a sailor in the Navy, a hunter, a fisherman, a salesman and a chef. If you were to ask though he would say that his favourite role was that of a father and papa. His door and his heart were always open and the coffee was always on. He had time for everyone who stopped by. Our special thanks to the staff at The Hamlets, Royal Inland Hospital and to the wonderful staff at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home. The family held a celebration of John's life on Friday, July 18, 2008. Interment will follow at later date at Hillside Cemetery, Kamloops. Should friends desire donations to the Kamloops Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Crescent S, Kamloops, BC V2E 2S9 in memory of John would be appreciated.
