ANNE MURRAY Fairleigh Anne Murray of Kamloops, BC left her family peacefully after a short battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the age of 53. She is survived by her loving son Matthew Rollo (Lisa) of Kamloops, BC. She will be eternally missed and forever loved by her sister Janice Bradley and brother-in-law John Bradley of Kamloops, BC, sister Sheridan Murray of Kamloops, BC; sister Kathy Rodman (Lyle) of Portland, Oregon; brother James "Hamish" Murray (Nada) of Whitecourt, AB; sister Evelyn Warren (Gerald) of Port Alberni, BC; nephew "Little" John Bradley (Lori) and their two sons Nicolas and Graem of Kamloops, BC; nephew Taylor Bradley (Heidi) of Kamloops, BC; nephew Dylan Murray of Whitecourt, AB; and her beloved animals Angel and Digit. Fairleigh was predeceased by her mother Bertha Agnus "Peggy" Murray of Kamloops, BC in 2008 and her father James Murray of Vancouver, BC in 1982. Fairleigh was born in Princeton, BC on July 25, 1955. She spent much of her childhood playing with her brother and sisters on Harrison Drive in Vancouver, BC. She would spend her days performing driveway plays, going on scavenger hunts, and searching for fairies in her backyard. Fairleigh went on to become a beautiful model in her teens and then on to an activist in many marches seen around Vancouver, BC and UBC. She became a devoted and loving mother on August 10, 1977. She became a union rep for the British Columbia Government Employees Union where she helped countless many at the bargaining tables and late night meetings. In 1987, she and her son moved to Kamloops, BC where she continued her work at the bargaining tables. When she wasn't at work, she would spend her evenings helping her son with homework, watching his school band concerts, and cheering at his early morning hockey games. She got to experience the thrill of traveling through Scotland and Belgium with her son and daughter-in-law in 2000 and soaking up the sun at her son's wedding in Cancun, Mexico in 2003. Fairleigh enjoyed many afternoons tending to her flowers. She once said, "beauty to me is a wondrous variety of colour" which was expressed through her brilliant garden. Fairleigh always had an affinity for babies and children and was able to share this as a loving part time "Nana" to her nephew's sons, Nicolas and Graem. Fairleigh was a devoted daughter to her mother Peggy in the years leading to her mother's passing. She spent many days by her mother's side caring for her and making her mother smile. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Stan Fike for all the love and care he showed Fairleigh over the years. He was more than just her doctor, he was a good friend. Thank you to the nurses of 3 South, 3 West, and ER at RIH for their compassion to both Fairleigh and her family.
