It’s with great sadness, but joy in her long fruitful life, that we announce the death of Elizabeth (Liz) Purvis in her 99th year.
Liz was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Crossan) Dewolfe, and sister to the late Tom and Elliott Dewolfe.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, George.
Liz lived the better part of her life in Plymouth Park, where she took an active role in the community. She was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, and was employed for many years in the Pharmacy Department, Aberdeen Hospital, a job she truly enjoyed.
She will be remembered lovingly by her only daughter, Beth (Don) Sobey; grandchildren: Rob (Monique) Sobey, Irene (Gilles) Aucoin, Kent (Meghan) Sobey, great-grandchildren: Jane, Matthew, Connor and Charlie.
She will be sadly missed by a dear and loving friend and travelling companion, Virgie Cunningham. Gertie, Valerie, Gloria “The Newfoundland Girls†and Noreen, Catherine, and Dolly “The night girls†were a significant part of her life over the past two years.
She was not only known as Nannie to her grandchildren, but to their friends as well.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Angus Funeral Home, East River Road. The celebration of her life will be on Wednesday, at 2 p.m., from the First Presbyterian Church, Foord Street, Stellarton.
Family flowers only please. Donations in her memory would be most appreciated to the Palliative Care, Aberdeen Hospital.
