KOCH - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Helen Louise Koch of Shaunavon, and formerly of Simmie, on Monday, January 25, 2010 at the Shaunavon Care Centre at the age of 78 years. Helen was born at home in the village of Lac Pelletier on December 7, 1931. She attended school at Lac Pelletier and the Convent in Ponteix. She worked in Val Marie, Ponteix and Swift Current hospitals. On November 14, 1956 she married the love of her life Theodore (Ted) Koch at Sacred Heart Parish in Swift Current, SK. The couple resided and farmed in the Simmie district. In 2004 Helen moved to the Shaunavon Care Centre and lived there until her passing. Helen was known for her gentle and understanding spirit. She always extended a helping hand to those who were in need of her kindness. Helen\'s family came first. Her grandchildren were a delight to her. Helen took great pride in the farm and loved to watch things grow especially her strawberries and tomatoes. Helen was always young at heart and loved to spend time with children. She enjoyed cooking and sharing it with others. She loved to play cards and had a spark about her that always made the game more interesting. Helen had a strong faith and was often seen with her rosary. Helen will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Helen leaves to mourn her passing: daughters Marilyn (Kent) Bolton and Barbara Ann (Pat) McGuire; grandchildren Luke, Johan (Lindsey), Anthony, Dominique and Kathleen Bolton, Delina, Katrina and Theodore McGuire; great grandchild Everett Bolton; two sisters-in-law Marguerite Monette and Henriette Monette; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Dominique Monette and Delina Provencal; her husband Theodore (Ted) Koch; mother and father-in-law Mike and Katherine Koch; brothers Dominique Monette, Louis Monette, Noel Monette and Antonio Monette, Amedee Monette; sisters Marie Robitaille, Eugenie Lemay, Therese Monette, Therese Alice Lemay; brother-in-law Henry Koch; as well as many other brothers and sisters-in-law. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM from Christ The Redeemer Parish, Swift Current with Father Rick Krofchek and Father Raymond Carignan officiating. Eulogists were Marilyn Bolton and Barbara Ann McGuire and readers included Jade Monette, Pat McGuire, Cori Davidson and Daena Monette-Bymoen. Ushers were Marie-Ange and Marlow Gilbertson and the pallbearers included Delina McGuire, Kathleen Bolton, Dominique Bolton, Anthony Bolton, Roland Monette and Lucien Monette. Honorary pallbearers were all who shared in her life.
