Edward John Elsom, born May 31st, 1970 passed away at the Regina General Hospital, February 7th, 2010, with his family and several friends at his side. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 10th, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church. Father Gerry Bauche will be presiding celebrant. An opportunity for viewing for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 9th at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Edward is predeceased by his father John Elsom; grandparents George E. and Mae (Elsom) Moore, Frank Sinkewicz; and sister-in-law Susan Elsom. He is survived by his daughter Sunny Marie Elsom; mother Sheila Elsom; brothers Richard and Ryan (Kendra); and their children Willow Ava and Brody Alexander; sister Maria; Sunny’s mother Lori Elsom-Jewsbury; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Edward lived each day to the fullest, enjoying and entertaining family and friends to the very end. He had a self-made promise to be the best dad possible for his daughter Sunny. Up until two weeks before Ed died, he continued his fitness workouts despite the effects of chemotherapy. He remained determined and positive during the entire process. One of the many admirable qualities he showed during his illness was his incredible strength, both physically and emotionally. The family extends a very special thank you to the staff of the Pasqua Hospital, Unit B, Allan Blair Clinic and the Regina General Hospital ICU and all the excellent health care staff involved in Edward’s care over the past 16 months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edward’s memory to the Canadian Blood Services, 1800 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa, Ontario, K1G 4J5 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, Sask.
