It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Gordon Eldon Lund on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Edward and Florence (MacAskill) Lund.
Surviving are his three children, Vivian, Grand Prairie, Alta., Jeanette, Marion Bridge and Sheila (Chris), Sydney; precious grandchildren, Tyler, Tory and Janelle. He is also survived by his brothers, Johnny (Margie) Lund, Sydney and Eddie (Kay) Lund, Dutch Brook; sisters, Eileen (Alister) MacDonald, Dutch Brook, Betty (Jimmy) Gillis, Grand Mira, Louise (Wayne) Cann, Marion Bridge and Christine (John) Thompson, Sydney; many nieces and nephews. Brothers-in-law Michael (Laura) MacDonald, East Bay, Wayne (Nancy) MacDonald, East Bay, Clifford (Ann Marie) MacKinnon, Sydney and Carl Brooks, Ontario and sister-in-law, Mora Lund, Skirdhu.
Besides his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his wife, Frances, Feb. 10, 2010; brothers, Elmer and David Lund; sister, Evelyn Petrie; father and mother-in-law, Michael and Catherine MacDonald.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Columba Presbyterian Church, Marion Bridge on Monday 11 a.m., with Pastor Kevin Richardson officiating. Interment in Oakfield Cemetery.
