MacKeen, Lester Cargill - 75, most recently a resident of Blomidon Court in Greenwich, NS, passed away on July 16, 2010 in Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton, NS. Lester had been ill for the past several years but passed away peacefully. He was born on May 7, 1935 in Sherbrooke, NS to the late Lester David MacKeen and Muriel Myrl MacKeen (McKeen). He is survived by his wife, Jeannette (Cormier) of Wolfville; his son, Andrew (Hazel) of Victoria, BC; his son, Jeffrey (Lisa) of Calgary and a grandson, Marshal of Calgary. Lester also has many cousins in Massachusetts, Montreal and various parts of Nova Scotia. He is also survived by his niece, Nancy (Wilson) Simpson of Ottawa, ON and nephew, David Wilson, Fredericton, NB. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother in infancy and his sister, Margaret Grace Wilson. Lester retired from Maritime Tel & Tel after 37 1/2 years of service in the Halifax area as well as New Glasgow, NS. His one notable passion in life was curling, whether playing, watching or just talking about the game. He was an avid curler and when he no longer was able to curl, he volunteered many hours at the Glooscap Curling Club, in Kentville, NS. Cremation has taken place under the care of White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Kentville. Interment took place in Riverside Cemetery, following a memorial service at St. John's United Church in Sherbrooke, NS on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Lester's life took place on Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Glooscap Curling Club in Kentville, NS. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Michael Sinclair and Dr. Robert Gunn who both took a great interest in his care over the last few years.
