GEORGE W. BARRIE
It breaks my heart to announce that cancer has claimed the life of George W. Barrie, my best friend, my lover and my husband in his 75th year. He passed away with his wife and family at his side.
George was born Dec. 3, 1935 in Florence, Cape Breton to George and Elizabeth Barrie.
George leaves behind his loving wife, Noreen (Kelly); his children, Catherine (Brian) Kelly, Ann (Irwin) Zaifman and Vaughan (Tim) Burden. Also his grandchildren, whom he loved very much, Nichole Kelly (Chris), Krystal Kelly (Joe), Cindy and Larry Wolfe, Matthew and Kaitlyn Burden and Zoe and Jacob Zaifman. Also missed by Noreen's children, Robert Kelly (Cheryl), Brian Kelly (Catherine), David Kelly (Colleen), Aileen Kelly-Devoe (Dave) and Sharon Creith (Dave). George also leaves behind several sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews, mostly in Nova Scotia.
George served his country and NATO in Germany and at home with PPCLI.
At George's request there was no public visitation or service, cremation has taken place.
Those wishing to make a donation in memory of George are asked to consider the London Health Sciences Foundation - Cancer Centre.
