New Glasgow - Alonzo J. "Al" Legere. The death of Al Legere, age 85, of New Glasgow, occurred at the Aberdeen Hospital on Monday, September 6, 2010. Born in Memramcook, he was a son of the late Gill and Minnie (Gould) Legere. He was a Millwright for Hawker Siddeley Canada Ltd. for 35 years. Al was an avid sportsman over the years playing hockey, baseball and golf. Al was inducted into the Pictou Co. Sports Heritage Hall of Fame. He was a member of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. Al will be sadly missed by his wife June (MacCormack) Legere; daughters, Eileen (Vernon) Stinson; Jane (Roddie) Anderson; 3 grandsons; a granddaughter and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Paul in 2009, brothers, Laurie, Roy, Fred, Leo and sister Rita. Visitation 7-9 pm Wednesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral mass 11 am Thursday in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
