Daisy Lillian Taggart

Taggart, Daisy Lillian, 86, Lower Onslow, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wentworth, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Ada (Totten) McGill. Daisy and her late sister Hazel moved to Truro and worked in the mills until meeting her husband. Daisy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Daisy was well known for her cooking abilities and her love of dancing. Her family was the love of her life. She was a very generous and hard working lady who was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. She was also a true animal lover and will be missed by her kitty Smokey. Along with her husband and family, they owned and operated Taggart’s Takeout and Vegetable Stand in Glenholme for many years. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.
She is survived by her son Phillip who loved and cared for his mother for several years; Freddie of Brampton, ON; grandchildren, Derek (Natalie) Taggart, Fredericton, NB; Granddaughter Karen (Robert) Putnam, Belmont; Great-grandchildren, Reid, Craig Taggart, both of Fredericton, NB; sister Mrs. Florence Harnish, Wentworth; brother Lloyd (Roxie) McGill, Alberta; several nieces and nephews.
Daisy was predeceased by her husband William; daughter Shirley; sisters, Thelma Fulton, Hazel Upham,; brothers, Stanley, Earl, Percy, Layton, Maynard; daughter-in-law North Taggart.
Private family visitation only. Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. A public graveside service will take place on Monday at 2 pm in Folly Village Cemetery, Glenholme, with Rev. Brent Robertson officiating. Donations in Daisy’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Society, Victoria Order of Nurses or the S.P.C.A.
