Charles Dean Banks - 82, of Sheffield Mills, Kings County, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in Shannex - Orchard Court, Kentville. Born in Waterville, he was a son of the late Wylie and Josephine (Fredericks) Banks. He had been employed in the woods as a yardman, as an orderly with the former Nova Scotia Sanatorium and retired as a poultry farmer with C&M Ells and A.C.A. Co-operative. He is survived by two daughters, Sylvia (Reg) Kane, Atlanta, Kings County; Dorothy (Rick) Redden, Kentville; two sons, Edwin (Kim), Centreville; Michael (Heidi), Sheffield Mills; two sisters, Elsie (Irving) MacPherson, Kentville; June (Robert) Cruickshank, Mt. Denson; three brothers, John, Fall River; Stanley, Kentville; Hedley, Dartmouth; 11 grandchildren, Dwayne, Aaron, Shannon, Valerie, Kristin, Shelly, David, Lisa, Angela, Ryan and Brandon; 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Grace Thorpe; a daughter, Deborah (Steven) Martin; a sister, Jean; three brothers, Richard, Lewis and Wylie Jr. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012 in the Canning Baptist Church, Reverend Donald Rafuse and Reverend Marc Potvin officiating.
