Doris McCormick
Doris Eileen McCormick, 84 years, Springhill, NS, passed away in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Born November 3, 1927 in Springhill, to the late Willa (Tozer) Nelson and John Nelson.
She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother to her four children, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She worked at the Canada Kar company in Amherst, in the X-ray Department at All Saints Hospital in Springhill and as a waitress at the White Spot. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family out West. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family hosting the many celebration suppers she lovingly prepared, making sure that each person had their favourite dessert. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years and returned to play in a seniors' league at the Springhill Bowling Alley. She was an enthusiastic card player and loved partnering up with Anita to beat Alice and Brenda on many a Saturday evening.
Doris will be sadly missed by daughters, Lynda (Ray) Grenier, Riverview, NB, Brenda Patterson, Springhill and Connie McCormick (Harry Gouchie), Amherst; son Larry (Carolyn) McCormick, Amherst; sister, Anna St. Croix, Amherst; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Katharine McCormick, Kimberly, BC, and Lillian Aylward, Springhill, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband of sixty-three years, Edward; a brother, Sidney; sisters, Jessie Wilson, Janice Hunter, and an infant sister, Suzie.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care and supervision of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill (597-2361) from where visitation will be held 7-9 pm on Friday, April 6, 2012. Funeral service will take place 11:00 am from the funeral home on Saturday, April 7, 2012 with The Reverend Wayne McCarther officiating. Following the service, Doris will be laid to rest with her husband in the Hillside Cemetery.
