Longtime Owner and Operator of Hagan’s Hospitality Home, Aquaforte (Southern Shore), Rita Hagan, aged 73, (recently profiled on CBC’s Land and Sea Program), passed peacefully away in the presence of her three devoted daughters at the Palliative Care Unit, L.A. Miller Centre, St. John’s on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 after a brave and gracious battle with cancer. Predeceased by her husband Thomas Hagan, infant son Thomas, and foster-son Francis Power; parents James and Rosina (Rossiter); brothers Leo, Francis and Cecil (Catherine Spearns, living); sister Cecilia Hayes and sister and brother-in-law Essie and Bernard O’Keefe; mother and father-in-law Thomas and Mary (Roche); sister-in-law Mary Hagan and three brothers-in-law Clarence, Patrick and Bernard Hagan. Left with loving memories daughters Marian Kinsella and husband Alfred of Ferryland, Leona Hagan and husband Todd Clowe of St. John’s, and Anne Marie Hagan of Aquaforte; grandchildren Shirley Aylward (husband Jimmy), Nadine Kinsella, Emily Hagan and Thomas Hagan; great-grandchildren Tyler Hiscock and James Aylward; brother Aiden Carey and friend Bernadette Kennedy; daughter-in-law Assumpta Lawes; sisters-in-law Mary Hagan, Vera Hagan, Catherine Hagan and Lillian Carey; and brother-in-law Chris Hayes. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of special cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbours and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Wednesday from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. and at Fahey’s Funeral Home, Fermeuse on Thursday and Friday from 1 p.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from Holy Trinity Church, Ferryland.
