The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Thursday, May 17, 2012, of Joan Murdella Sutherland (nee MacGregor) of Summerside and formerly of Toronto, Ont., aged 72 years. Joan was born on Dec. 1, 1939, in Sydney Mines, N.S., to her late parents John and Martha (nee MacFarlene) MacGregor. Beloved mother of Deborah Sutherland (Allan MacDougall) of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by her granddaughter Natasha Keeling of Summerside, her brother-in-law Ross Crowdis of Cape Breton, N.S., her three nieces, two nephews and numerous cousins. Survived by her sisters Betty (Milo) Varljen of Toronto, Ont., and Catherine (Fred) Tesarsch of Mississauga, Ont. Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her sister Maureen Crowdis. By personal request, there will be no funeral service or visiting hours held. Following cremation, internment will take place in Cape Breton, N.S., at a later date.
