With heavy hearts and great sadness, the family of Barbara MacNeil regret to announce her passing on May 20, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a courageous two year battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Julia (March) Larick.
Besides being a loving wife and mother, Barbara enjoyed providing transportation for all the school kids with both school boards. In her spare time she loved being in Barra Glen, alone or with a house full.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Clayton; daughter, Mistie Ann, Sydney and sons, Adam (Jenn), Edmonton and Liam, Sydney. She is also survived by her sisters, Linda James, Helen Larick, Carol (David) Burns and Susan (Allen Bennett) Larick, Sydney. She was much loved by all her nieces and nephews, Lynn, Kelly, David, Julie, Tracey, Jodean, Mark, Marilyn, Linda, Carol, Barbara, Trisha, Crystal, James, Sara, Parker and special niece, Stacey; and grand-nieces and nephews, Patrick, Tyler, Samantha, Mackenzie, Breanna, Beth, Emma, Eden, Nathaniel, Kelsie, Kyla, Kara, Lucas, Maddison, Colton, Nolan, Sloan, Makenzie, Ty, Hayleigh and Mason
Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her brothers, Carl and Alex; nephew, Blair and grand-nephew, John.
Visitation for Barbara will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St. Sydney. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Sheldon Chant officiating. A reception will follow the service. Interment to take place at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
