SHIRLEY DOYLE

Passed on: May 19th, 2012

Shirley Fay Doyle passed away in the Moose Jaw Union Hospital on Saturday, May 19th, 2012. She was born in the Bengough District, Saskatchewan in 1937. The family left the farm in 1949 and moved to Weyburn. After finishing her education, Shirley worked for a short time for Barber Motors in Weyburn before moving to Moose Jaw. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Moose Jaw Distributing and then Eaves Toyota for many years. Shirley had an amazing green thumb. Prior to her illness, in the summer months, her yard was a bounty of vegetables and flowers; her back porch and window sills were full to overflowing with greenery and flowering plants. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crosswords and keeping up with the soap opera and movie stars through the weekly digests. Numerous people received gifts of her beautiful crocheted handiwork, a pastime she enjoyed right up to the last few months. Through Shirley’s long struggle with illness, her strength of character, quick wit and sense of humour remained intact. You could always count on your conversations with her to brighten your day. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Alice Doyle; sisters: Mabel Fowler, Pat O’Bright, Connie O’Bright; and brother, Dennis Doyle; as well as her cherished uncle, Sep Doyle. Shirley will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her remaining extended family and friends. At Shirley’s request there will be no Funeral Service. Those so wishing may make a donation in Shirley’s name to the Lung Association of Saskatchewan, 1231 - 8th St. E., Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 2M2. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. James Murdock, Funeral Director. 693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
