It is with great sadness and broken hearts, we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister and great friend, Verla MaDougall on May 30, 2012, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late George and Bridget (Williams) Steiger.
Verla was a dedicated church member, belonged to the New Waterford Legion, Pensioner’s Club, loved spending time at their bungalow in Loch Lomond, enjoyed music and dancing but most of all, she enjoyed going to bingo with her bingo buddy and best friend, Linda Gottwald.
Verla is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Jeff MacDougal; daughters Georgia (Wayne) Eldridge, Sheri MacDougall; sister, Georgie Woodland; brothers, Johnny (Diane), Jimmy (Terry) and Joey; dearest grandchildren, Tyler, Jeffery (Samantha), Brandon and one extremely special grandson Ethan.
Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by son, Jeffery Joseph, sisters, Shirley Power, Helen (Tootsie) Matthys, brother, Charles, brother-in-law, Herbie Woodland, mother and father-in-law Liz and Joseph MacDougall.
Visitation will take place Sunday, June 3, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and a celebration of Verla’s life will be held Monday, June 4 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Leonard with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating followed by cremation. A luncheon will be held at the Army and Navy, Smith Street, all are invited.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
