FRANK JAMES WILKINS
April 26, 1926 - May 13, 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Frank James Wilkins in Kamloops, B.C.
He was predeceased by his soul mate and best friend, wife Mary Catherine "Maureen" (nee Gormley) in 2009.
Frank is survived by his son Gary of O'Leary, P.E.I., grandchildren Haida and Alexandra Wilkins of B.C. He will also be missed dearly by his daughter Sheila and son-in-law Jim Hill of Clifford, Ontario and grandchildren Faith (Paul) Longman of Drake, Saskatchewan, Nadine and Shawn Anderson, Jonathon Miller, all of Ontario. His step-daughter Mamie Singleton of Paris, Ontario, and stepson Ted (Dolly) of Trenton, Ontario. Left to mourn also his passing are great grandchildren Cory, Dallas, Cody, Andrew Longman and Kimberly Anderson. He will also be sadly missed by his brother Fred and surviving half-siblings Margaret, Gladys, Vi and Ida, numerous nieces and nephews, and especially Roxane, niece, as well his extended family in Northern Ireland, friends in Ontario, Vanderhoof and Kamloops, B.C.
Frank was born in Manitoba and loved working his father's team of horses on the homestead in Manson. He helped on neighbours' farms and then found work with Ontario Hydro where he met his love, Maureen. From there, they traveled to BC to make their home in Vanderhoof and later in Kamloops. He worked for BC Hydro until his retirement in 1988. Frank shared many stories about his adventures working on transmission lines in the mountains.
Frank and Maureen loved to travel to visit family in Northern Ireland and made many car trips from B.C. across Canada to visit family. He enjoyed meeting people and gardening. Frank was very supportive of the Kamloops Humane Society and assisted with their fundraisers. He was a wonderful husband, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Frank was well liked and could strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He was independent, helpful, and ready to be there for his family and friends. Frank lived a full life and was loved and respected by all who knew him. Indeed, Frank will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Frank's life will be held at Schoening Funeral Chapel, 415 Seymour St. Kamloops, B.C. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. with burial in Hillside Cemetery where Frank will rejoin Maureen. Monsignor Jerry Desmond will read the Liturgy of the Word. A reception will follow and all of Frank's family and friends are invited to attend.

"A light from our household is gone
A voice we loved is now stilled
A place now vacant in our hearth
Which never can be filled."

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kamloops & District Humane Society, 660 Stansfield Rd., Kamloops, B.C., V2B 6M3.
