Ruby Ileen MacDonald of El Paso, Texas, formerly of Pictou County, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013 in Texas. She was 69 years of age.
She is survived by her husband, Kimmo Virtanen; her children, Anna Skinner and her husband, Bobby (Edson, Alberta), Tony MacDonald (Alma), Sheila MacDonald and her partner, Donna Hiltz (Halifax), Stephen MacDonald (Vancouver), Charles MacDonald and his husband, Kirk Thibault (Cornerbrook, Newfoundland); her two stepsons, Darcy and Weslyn (both of Ontario); her brothers and sisters, Mariea Stewart (Antigonish), Harvey Stone (Yarmouth), John Barry Stone (Dartmouth), Annette Hayne (Trenton), Edmond Langille (Ghosn), and Bernice Salsman (Larry’s River); her grandchildren Michael, Nicholas, Daniel, Alyssa, Richard and Cadence; and a great-grandchild, Hayden.
She was a graduate of the 1977 nursing class from the Aberdeen School of Nursing, New Glasgow and has been nursing in Texas for the last 17 years.
Cremation has taken place in Texas and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Salvation Army, 2011 Diamond Street, Westville at 2 p.m.
She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
