CAISSIE, Emile Joseph, Jr. -81, of Pictou passed away June 14, 2013 at home. Born in 1932 in Shediac, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Emile & Virginia (Cormier) Caissie. He moved with his family to Pictou in 1941. In 1955 he became a member of the R.C.A.F., serving 29 years in Canada and the United States. He retired and returned to Pictou in 1984, becoming Manager for Pictou County Regional Housing, retiring once again in 1996. Emile was active in his community, as a member of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church where he assisted as a Eucharistic Minister and altar server; as a devoted member of St. Vincent de Paul Society; and as a volunteer with the Northumberland Veteran’s Wing, The Royal Canadian Legion, the Pictou Food Bank, the New Horizons Club and his bowling league. He is survived by his wife, Loretta ‘Laurie’ (Arsenault); three daughters, Theresa (David) Valencik, Lena (John) MacLure, Dartmouth; Linda (Bernie) Caspick, Moncton; two sons, Paul, Pictou; and Robert (Wendy), Lawrencetown. He was the proud Grandad of seven grandsons, Andrew, Gregory, Jacob, Joshua, William, Jack, and Scott. Emile is also survived by sisters, Raymonde, Pictou; and Stella, Ontario; brothers, Cam (Thelma), Scotsburn; Gerald (Betty) and Ernie, Pictou. He was predeceased by brothers, Louie, Leo, Romeo, Joe, Roger; and sisters, Helen, Rita, Geneva, Loretta, and Eva May. The family wishes to thank Dr. Burrill, Dr. Farrell and the compassionate staff of the Palliative Care Unit, and the very special V.O.N. ladies, who give so much. No visitation by request. Funeral Mass will be held 2:00 PM Monday from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Please join us for a reception in the hall immediately following the mass. No flowers please, donations in his memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
