It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of our Mother, Jean Deas Johnstone. She is now reunited with her true love Tom.
On June 16, 2013, Mum went to be with Dad. She passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Jean was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on August 11, 1936. She moved to Canada with her family in 1955 where she met and married her best friend, soul mate and the love of her life Tom. They married December 29, 1956 in Hamilton, Ontario.
They had two children Tommy and Suzanne (Beverleigh). Tom and Jean moved to Woodfibre in 1967 and then over to Squamish in 1971. They then moved to Kamloops in 1976 and stayed on and made many friends.
Jean leaves behind her children Tommy (Laurie), Suzy (Wayne). Five grandchildren Melissa, Chris, Jessica, Aidyn and Brogan. Her sister Janet McKechnie of Hamilton and her brother Allan (Betty) also of Hamilton. In-laws and relatives in both Scotland and Australia. Along with many numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband Tom, her parents, Charles and Jeannie Duncan, her sisters Ella Hannah, and Margaret Spence and her brother Charles Duncan.
A Memorial Service will be held at Schoenings Funeral Home on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 1:00 p.m., with a tea to be held at her home following.
A special thank you to her doctors, Dr. Alice Huang of Kamloops and Dr. Robert Boone from St. Paul's Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House.
