Marion ‘Mumzie’ Ferguson (Baxter) MacDonald

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Marion MacDonald, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.
She was surrounded by her loving family when she lost her courageous 13-year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney, for the past six years.
Born in Sydney Mines, Dec. 7, 1939, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Foster) Baxter.
Marion was a member of Carman United Church, Sydney Mines.
Marion worked for many years at Nickerson Fisheries and then Leonards Fisheries where she became a great friend to all who crossed her path. She loved outdoors whether in her yard with her husband or camping with family. She loved to play “plinkers” and was an avid bowler. She loved to make her grandchildren laugh.
Marion will be sadly missed by her loving children, Heather LeBlanc (Byron), Southside Boularderie, Corinne Boutilier (Peter), North Sydney, Susan Musgrave (Dougie), Georges River, Brenda Petite (Steve), Florence, Bruce MacDonald (Charlene), Ontario, Nancy Shebib (Paul), Halifax, Darren MacDonald (Crystal), Sydney Mines; her brother, Richard Baxter (Stella); her stepsisters, Carol Morrison, Maureen Morrison; stepbrothers, George McCarron and John McCarron. She was the proud grandmother of 28 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who she loved dearly.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Walter P. MacDonald, son, Walter W. MacDonald, brother, Thomas Baxter, daughter-in-law, Ingrid (Munroe) MacDonald and stepmother, Margaret (McCarron) Baxter.
Visitation for Marion will held in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, Friday, June 21, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 22 at Carman United Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating.
Donations in Marion’s memory can be made to the Alzheimers Ward at the Northside Community Guest Home.
