Thomas W. Grue

Grue, Thomas W. “Tommy” – It is with great sadness the family of Thomas W. Grue announces his passing at the age 79, on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the South Cumberland Community Care Center in Parrsboro. Born in Moose Jaw, Sask., he was the son of the late Alfred and Mildred (Cooke) Grue. Tommy was a heavy equipment operator and later worked at Kent Homes in Debert. His hobby was farming the family land in Bass River. He volunteered in his community as an elder at Riverside United Church and was a long standing member of the Bass River Volunteer Fire Dept. Thomas is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joyce (Rose) Grue; a son, Alfred (Tammy) Grue, Bass River; a daughter, Margaret (Rodney) Grue-Lewter, Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Aaron and Bryan of Bass River; along with Linae and Lian of Houston. Funeral service will be held at Riverside United Church, Bass River at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013, Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Burial will take place in the Riverside United Cemetery. A reception will follow in MacFarlane Hall at the Riverside United Church. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for all the care and love given to Tommy during his stay at South Cumberland Community Care Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Riverside United Church or the Bass River Fire Dept. Arrangements entrusted to Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro.
