IMRIE, Arlene Beverly - October 25, 1963 - April 8 ,2014
Arlene was born in Swift Current Union Hospital on October 25, 1963. She received her education at Drayton Valley,AB, Whitecourt,AB, Swift Current and graduated from Grade 12 at Kyle Composite School. Her love for math led her to an accounting career, employed at Den-Den Enterprises, Stark & Marsh Accounting and for the past eight years at Jay-Dee Ag-Tech.
She was active in CGIT, Job's Daughters and Sterling Chapter OES. She played ball with the White Bear Girls Team, was an avid curler, a councillor on Pennant Town Council and enjoyed family, her community and travel. Arlene and Perry traveled to Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and their favorite destination Banff, which they visited twelve times.
It was very devastating in October, 2012, when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that left her legs paralyzed. For over eighteen months she fought a very courageous battle and has been an inspiration to all. The family appreciates the special friends that made her journey easier by their regular e-mails, texts, phone calls and visits. She lost her struggle on April 8, 2014 and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.
To cherish her memory she leaves Perry Shaw, her partner of twenty-three and a half years, parents Lloyd and Madeline Imrie , sister Loralee[Dana] Antonovitch, brother Daryl[Crystal] Imrie, nieces and nephews, Jordan [Ashlie], Jocelyn, Justin Antonovitch and Jackson, Jorja and Jay imrie. Perry's parents Ross and Lavon Shaw, step-daughter Brandy[Chad] Moog, step-granddaughters Ava and Brooklyn. Perry's brother Larald[Cindy] Shaw.
She was pre-deceased by her grandparents, George and Ruth Imrie and John and Margaret Pitka, special aunt Beverly[Imrie] Dyrland.
Interment will follow at a later date at Pennant Cemetery.
Arlene had requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Sandra Shmirler Foundation, Wa-Wa Temple Shriners Transportation Fund or Charity of your choice.
