Laura Lee Shaw

SHAW, Laura Lee - Aged 69 of Lawrencetown, Annapolis County passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Addie (Gehue) Hame. Aunt Laura Lee was formerly employed with Eatons and Penningtons, Sudbury, Steadmans Store, Middleton and ADIL, Bridgetown. She was very involved in her community, most recently as secretary of the Brickton Community Hall. Aunt Laura Lee loved gardening, crafting and spending time at Milbury Lake with family and friends. She was a foster parent to four children while living in Sudbury and grandmother in our hearts to many, especially Elizabeth and Rachel Taylor. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Laurie (Wilma) Illsley; Charlotte (Bob) White; Reg (Sandy) Illsley; Tim (Pam) D’Aubin; Sue (Keith) McLearn; Jane (Leon) Bezanson; Walter (Dale) Illsley; Christine (Trevor) Grant; Wendy (Dave) Owen; Ralph (Jennifer) D’Aubin; Lisa (Richard) Taylor; several great nieces and nephews, three great-great nieces and one great-great nephew. Also survived by step children Randy Bent, Connie (Blair) Balcom, Joanne Bent, their children and daughter Wendy Lightfoot. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Betty Illsley and Bertha D’Aubin; step-father, Lud Tooker, life partner, Bill Bent and great nephew Michael. Laura Lee was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Visitation was held Tuesday, April 15, 2014 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448 where the funeral was held Wednesday, April 16, 2014 with Rev. Patty Beals officiating.
