Johnson, Delia Maxine (Morrisey) – 96, Truro

Delia passed away peacefully at Wynn Park Villa with family by her side on April 15, 2014. Born in Halifax on September 19, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John and Loretta (Martell) Morrisey. She was a survivor of the Halifax Explosion of December 1917. Delia is survived by daughters, Mary (Douglas) Roy, Onslow, Margaret (Merlin) Rushton, Five Houses; sons, David (Bonnie) Brookside, Lloyd (Charlene), Ralph (Carol), both of Bible Hill, James (Kathleen) Five Houses, Michael, Hamilton, Ont.; daughters-in-law, Iris Johnson, Glenholme, Maxine Johnson, Pugwash; sisters, Rose Carter, Elva Archibald, both of Truro; brother, Gerald (Mida) Morrisey, Oromocto, NB; sister-in-law, Delma Morrisey, Truro. Delia also leaves to mourn their much cherished Nanny, 30 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 75 years, Wesley “Sam” Johnson; her eldest son, Kenneth; her eldest grandson, Kenneth Junior; sisters, Irene, Mary, Florence, Bessie; brothers, William, Charles, Hugh, John, Lloyd and Robert; sister, Gladys and brother Earl in infancy. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of N.S.
