LEVI LOUIS GLOADE

Gloade, Levi Louis, 82, of Millbrook First Nation, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by his family. Born in Millbrook, he was a son of the late Charles and Annie Jane (Sylliboy) Gloade. Levi was proud of the years he worked for Bagnell’s Dry Cleaners and as a Security Guard in Truro. He also helped his Mi’kmaq community through his work at the Union of Nova Scotia Indians; and at Millbrook First Nation as a Housing Supervisor and Councillor for approx. 20 years. His passions included work as a basket maker and a carpenter, and in his younger years, enjoyed playing hockey and baseball. He spent many years with his wife making crafts.
He is survived by daughter Barbara Dorey (Stuart) of Millbrook; sons, Richard (Natalie), Peter (Shelley), Pat (Vera), Kelvin (Dora), Chief Bob (Kelly), Charles (Shelley), all of Millbrook; 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Clara Gloade and Sarah Fiddes both of Millbrook; brothers Tom and John Gloade of Millbrook; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary Bridget (Johnson) Gloade; sons, Lester and Maurice; granddaughter Karlena; sister Helen in infancy.
Visitation will take place after 3 pm Sunday at Levi’s family residence, 39 Marshall Lane, Millbrook and will continue until funeral service time at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 22nd, in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Millbrook. Father Dariusz Miskowicz will officiate with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Millbrook. A Salite will follow the burial in the Community Hall, Millbrook. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
