NEW GLASGOW – Catherine Agnes “Kit” MacPherson, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by loved ones. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late William and Catherine (MacKenzie) MacPherson. Prior to retirement, Kit was employed with the former Maritime Tel & Tel for 39 years, where she served in management for many years. She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. Kit was an active member of St. John the Baptist C.W.L. and the Telephone Pioneers. She lived her faith through charity and service to others. Kit now enjoys the promise made to her in baptism as she believed that life does not end, only change. Surviving are her sister, Margaret “Peg” MacPherson, New Glasgow; nieces and nephews, Anne (Paul) Villeneuve, Ottawa; Dr. John (Terry) MacPherson, Halifax; Catherine (Eric) Mattson, Victoria, B.C.; Tommy (Anna) MacPherson, Toronto; Pauline MacNeil, Toronto; many grand and great, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister, Anne MacPherson; brothers, John Hugh “Jack”, Joseph “Joe”, Roderick “Rod” and Douglas “Doug”. The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. today in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2 p.m. Friday in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, New Glasgow. The MacPherson family wish to thank the many wonderful people who have shown kindness to Kit over the years, especially Bernie White, RN. They also wish to thank the dedicated staff at the Aberdeen Hospital for exceptional care Kit and her family received.
