DeMone, Eileen Margaret (Lake) Hardiman - 92 of Windsor, NS. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother on June 19, 2014 at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, NS, after a very brief illness. Born on October 20, 1921 in Port Williams, NS, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Ethel Lake, of Wolfville, NS. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. As a young woman in the early 1940’s, she owned and operated Miss Lake’s Variety Store on Gasperau Avenue in Wolfville, NS. Upon moving to Windsor, NS, she assisted her husband, “Dutchie” at their Bakery on O’Brien Street, The Windsor Pastry Shop. She was a member of Christ Anglican Church, the Kingston Guild and a volunteer at the Hants Community Hospital Gift Shop for many years. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, feeding the birds, Sunday drives, and spending time at the family camp on Mockingee Lake. She is survived by son, David (Madelaine) of Bridgewater, NS and their daughters, Trish (Peter Langille) and children Avery, Morgan and Sydney of Auburndale, NS, and daughter Holly (Brad Stoddart) and children Alexandra and Taylor of Barrington, NS; daughter, Gail (Sheldon Crowe) and their children Kateland and Denver, all of Grande Prairie, AB; daughter, Janet (Ernest MacKinnon) of Middle Sackville, NS; brother, George (Ruth) Lake of Bridgewater, NS; and brother, Don (Lillian) Lake of Willowdale, ON. She is also survived by cousins, Leona Levy (the late Ivan Levy) formerly of Melanson, NS, Doug Parker of North Alton, NS and Ruby (Jack) Johnson of Casey Corner, NS, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, James Kinsman Hardiman of Canning, NS who died in Caen, France, only five days after the D-Day invasion of Northern France during the Second World War. From her first marriage, she is also survived by her special sister-in-law, Peggy Manuel of Halifax, NS. She was predeceased by her second husband of 53 years, William Lorne (Dutchie) DeMone (1999) of Windsor, NS. She was predeceased by brother, Kenneth Lake (age two) and grandson, Robbie DeMone (infancy). Our deep gratitude and appreciation go out to current caregivers and friends, Estelle, Pam, Cathy, Betty, Jill and Judy as well as her former caregivers, Margaret, Karen and Terry for going above and beyond in caring for our mother in her home. Special thanks to daughter, Janet who enabled Mum to remain in her home on O’Brien Street, Windsor, NS for the last 16 years. She is deeply missed by her 4-legged caregiver, Snowball. Special thanks to Dr. Kasina for his care over the last number of years. The family would like to thank family friend, Dr. Cathryn Smith and the nurses at the Hants Community Hospital for ensuring that our mother left this world in peace and dignity.
