GOODWIN, Josephine Ruth, 97, formerly of Port LaTour, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at The Meadows, surrounded by her family. Born in Pubnico in 1916 to the late Jamie Gardiner and Marion Larkin Lennox (Gardiner). Sister to Mabel Gardiner and half-sister to Elmer Lennox (Joyce). She was predeceased by her brothers, Millidge Gardiner and George Gardiner; step-father, Murray Lennox; and first husband, Stanley C. Cunningham of The Hawk. She is survived by their children, Emma Leroux (Eugene), Warren Cunningham (Oleta), Neil Cunningham (Margaret) and Mabel Willis (James). After Stanley C. Cunningham’s untimely death, she was married to the late Gordon C. Goodwin of North East Point. Josephine and Gordon moved to Cape Cod, Mass., for approximately 20 years where she was a caretaker. They moved back to Port LaTour in 1980. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 5 great- great-grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild and one nephew. She is also survived by many sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and special friends. The family would like to send a special thanks to the Shelburne Hospital, Yarmouth Hospital, The Meadows, VON, Home Care, nurses and physicians for their compassion and care. The funeral was held on June 25/14 at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home. Burial was in Centerville Cemetery, CSI.
