WELL-KNOWN KENTVILLE RESIDENT PASSES AWAY
Doreen Marie Cleveland - 72, of Kentville, passed away peacefully at home, with her family by her side, on Sunday, July 13, 2014. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Agnes (MacPherson) Rice. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She graduated from Kings County Academy, Kentville and Mack Business School. Doreen founded and operated Cleveland's Boutique and developed a shop that was well-known throughout the Province. She looked forward to spending winters in Florida, where she developed friendships with many people. She loved playing golf and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gary; two daughters, Jo Ann (Peter) Marshall, Kentville; Debbie (Scott) Chisholm, Lower Canard; two sons, Donnie (Karen) Cleveland, Coldbrook; Jason, Kentville; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Rice, Beaver Bank and Cass Rice, Hudson, New Hampshire; cousin, Bob MacPherson, Wolfville; nephew, Paul Radford, Halifax; a number of close friends and extended family members. She was predeceased by two sisters, Jo Ann (Rice) Radford and Sister Betty Lou Rice; two brothers, Gerald "Jerry" Rice and Jim Rice; an infant son. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where a celebration of Doreen's life, followed by a reception, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014, Father John MacPherson officiating. Interment will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to Fidelis House Society or the Valley Regional Hospital - Carey Me Fund.
