Paulette Marlene Leighton, August 11, 1954- July 13, 2014, age 59 of Poplar Grove, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2014, in the Hants Community Hospital with her family at her side. Born August 11, 1954 in Windsor, Hants County she was the daughter of the late Elliot and Muriel (Cameron) Church. Paulette was creative, loving and musical, her life revolved around family, music and giving. A member of Al-Anon and an Al-Ateen leader, family had many meanings. She was the lead singer of the band “The Restless Five” sharing her gift of song and her voice touched many. Always an entrepreneur she and Bob opened Leighton’s General store in Avondale in the late 70s. Her second venture included her mother and the successful bakery “Muriel’s Country Kitchen” in Windsor. Paulette’s final business was “Gentle Touch Pilethemology” based in Poplar Grove. More recently she enjoyed many good times with the “Frenchy’s on The Hill” group in Windsor. Paulette is survived by her loving husband of forty three years, Robert (Bob); children, Charmedie Leighton (Mark Mayer), Wolfville; and Cayle (Rebecca), Poplar Grove; stepson, Scott (Tanya) Condon, Three Mile Plains; grandchildren, Charmedie’s son, Elijiah; Cayle’s daughter, Zoe; Scott’s daughters, Shanna, Abigail and Megan; sisters, Judy Church (Philip Boyd), Halifax; Karin Folker, Airdrie, Alberta; Patti Deveau, Windsor; Bonnie Church, Windsor; Heather (Dave) Majcan, Poplar Grove; and special nephew, Jamison Church-Phillips, Toronto, Ontario; and several nieces and nephews. Paulette is predeceased by her parents, Elliott and Muriel Church; and infant son Shannon. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bill Gibson officiated. Interment will be at a later date. Donations in memory of Paulette were requested to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
